Naim’s inaugural Christmas Charity Bazaar raises RM67,000

BINTULU: Naim Group of Companies raised over RM67,000 from its first Christmas Charity Bazaar at Naim Bintulu Paragon.

The funds would be channelled to various local charitable organisations and churches.

The bazaar attracted huge crowds to the mall where numerous activities were held throughout the nine days until its conclusion on Sunday.

These activities included Christmas carolling, choirs, balloon-sculpture giveaways, ballet performances and live charity concerts featuring popular artistes Nading Rhapsody, Jerry Kamit and Zee Avi.

Naim regional general manager for Bintulu Abang Mahathir Mohamed highlighted the concerts as the ‘major draw’.

“The music lovers were thrilled to see these Sarawak-born artistes, who have achieved so much in the international music industry, performing here in Bintulu.

“We have always had great admiration and appreciation for local talents and we are glad to be able to provide this platform where their performances could entertain the local community and at the same time, benefit the less-fortunate ones,” he said.

In its bid to continue creating awareness of the importance of ‘giving’, Naim conducted a blood donation drive at the mall where it managed to collect 21 pints for the local hospital.

“It’s the season of giving after all, and we wanted to do what we could to help foster a better and generous community, through all these charitable events,” said Abang Mahathir.

He also thanked the public for supporting Naim’s ‘Giving Tree’ campaign, which gathered 270 gifts for orphans and children born with autism.

“These gifts consisted of back-to-school supplies, as well as books, which were presented to the designated charitable bodies during the closing ceremony on Dec 23.”

Bintulu Development Authority general manager Rodziah Morshidi and Naim deputy managing director Christina Wong were present to witness the closing ceremony.
