More than 100 respond to Naim’s blood donation drive

KUCHING: Naim Holdings Bhd held its ‘Donate Blood, Save a Life’ group blood donation drive simultaneously in Miri, Bintulu and here yesterday.

More than 100 donors turned up at the three venues of the campaign – Naim’s Kuching Sales Gallery, Naim Miri’s Permy Mall and Bintulu Sales Gallery.

Its Head of Corporate Communications, Caroline Yeo said  the group blood donation drive was one of the first few major corporate social responsibility activities to be held this year.

‘At Naim, we endeavour to integrate our role as a corporate citizen with our day-to-day business. We strongly believe in giving back to society and strive to do our part in helping our communities in ways we can. Most of what we do are beyond corporate social responsibility – they are from our hearts, driven by a passion to make a difference in people’s lives,’ Yeo said.

Voon Choon Leong, aged 35 from Kuching, said this was his 24th blood donation so far.

‘By doing this, we are helping others while helping ourselves. Donating blood actually encourages us to have a healthy lifestyle, as we need to go for a blood test before we can donate. Also, blood donations help to reduce risks of diseases such as high blood pressure etc. I’m pleased with Naim’s efforts on this and hope that this effort can be continued,” Voon said.

For Siti Aidatul Akmar Ahmad, aged 26, this was her first blood donation.

“I don’t feel nervous, just that it’s everyone’s responsibility to help save lives. Imagine if it’s you or your family needing blood one day – we need to do what we can to help.

“It’s good that Naim does this, and I look forward to them continuing doing this to create greater awareness of the importance of this activity,” Siti said.

It was the 7th blood donation for Abu Bakar, aged 60, a Naim staff.

“I’m a strong supporter of donating blood. Our company organises this activity regularly and we would support it. Donating blood is the right thing to do,” Abu said.
