Eurasian body donates RM10,000 to SSPCA

KUCHING: The Sarawak Eurasian Association (SEA) donated RM10,000 to the Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) during SEA’s eighth anniversary dinner at the Sarawak Club here Wednesday.

The donation is to help SSPCA care for abused and abandoned animals at its shelter.

Dinner organising committee member Melissa Murphy presented the mock cheque to SSPCA shelter manager Francis Lim, on behalf of SEA president James Ritchie.

SEA also received a RM5,000 grant from Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan.

Senator Datuk Amar Empiang Jabu, who was represented by her son Gerald Jabu, also contributed to SEA.

Other highlights of the event were musical performances by The Eurasians band from Singapore, who were sponsored by Eastern Oxygen.

Local entertainers Dona Drury, Sam Gan, Marvin Jong as well as David Jaques and his band also performed.

The other main sponsors for the evening were Naim Cendera, Global Upline, Weida Berhad, TA Ann Holding, Limbang Trading, Endaya Construction Sdn Bhd, Cahaya Mata Sarawak (CMS), Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), Astro and Solid Timber Sdn Bhd.

Four Points by Sheraton Kuching, Hilton Kuching, Damai Beach Resort, Hilton Batang Ai Longhouse Resort, Merdeka Palace Hotel and Suites, as well as Canon Marketing sponsored lucky draw prizes.

Datin Amar Kathryn Wee was the event’s patron.
