Create Interactive Environment: House Developers Should Explore New Concepts That Would Encourage Friendly Neighbourhoods

Housing developers in Sarawak were asked to make full use of the present availability of land in the State to build “friendly neighbourhoods” in tandem with waht consumers want.
Chief Minister of Sarawak, Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud hoped to see the development of friendly neighbourhoods in the State, as he believed that more emphasis should be placed on the social aspect of housing, including for affordable houses. As such, he encouraged housing developers to explore new concepts that would create friendly neighbourhoods. Developers should not try to limit themselves because there was still much land available in the State and the State Planning Authority was also very open in its approach.

Pehin Sri said when opening the “Seminar on pioneering a new housing concept for affordable homes in Sarawak” on the 18th July 2005.

The two-day seminar was organised by the State Housing Ministry and the Sarawak Housing Developers Association (SHDA) in collaboration with the Sarawak Development Institute (SDI). Its main sponsors are Naim Cendera Holdings Bhd and Sarawak Concrete Industries Bhd.
